Kelley R. Small
As a Principal of Standish Executive Search, Kelley R. Small plays a key role in advising clients and building the firm for the benefit of its expanding base of client companies. Kelley is a former business owner, and a seasoned business and organization advisor to mid-sized and smaller companies, government, and professional organizations.
In addition to her executive search practice at Standish, Kelley serves as an Advisor to CEO Connection and also as its Leadership Director. CEO Connection helps to position mid-market companies to improve their operations and results. She has also focused on helping women leaders to achieve positions in the C Suite and on boards in the mid-market space.
Previously, Kelley was the Founder and President of Newfound Business Solutions, a company she led from 2006 to 2017. As an Accredited Business Advisor, she has helped mid-size and small companies across a wide range of industries, both in the United States and internationally, to achieve their business goals.
Her earliest business experience came through her family’s company, the Pedlar Publishing Group. The central MA area company eventually sold the magazines they published, after which Small launched a monthly magazine, Today’s Parent, in 1996. She was its publisher until its sale in 2002. The magazine continues today under the name, Bay State Parent, with its new owners.
Under the administration of President George W. Bush, Kelley also served as an appointee to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), where she was Chairman of its Farm Service Agency for Massachusetts, a post she held for eight years.
In her executive search engagements with business owners, executives and boards, Kelley’s work reflects her seasoned background in leadership and organization effectiveness, from both in-house leadership and advisory perspectives. She has provided effective support and advice to mid-market and smaller companies as they have grown and transformed their businesses.
A resident of Bridgewater, NH, Kelley’s education includes business management at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and professional certifications in advising independent businesses (IIB); marketing and sales; and personality evaluations.
Kelley and her husband, The Rev. Steven Small, have two grown children. She divides her time between Bridgewater, New Hampshire and West Boylston, Massachusetts.
Kelley Small is committed to surfacing and securing exceptional candidates, matching the skills to the culture of a business for Standish clients. She also provides the added support to assure that position and candidate profiles are right for each business, and follows through after placement to guarantee on-the-job success of selected candidates.
